Hello Amanda- I would have e mailed you but can't find the address- have written it down somewhere!

Thanks for asking about mum and dad. A lot has happened since my last posts. Mum had a fall a few weeks ago and was hospitalised but she's now home and doing ok- well as ok as can be expected. We visited her in hospital on her 80th birthday with cakes and home made fudge which went down well with everyone in the ward! I was choked as the old lady in the bed opposite had just recovered her speech after a stroke and tried to sing Happy Birthday.

Dad has been home for a while and now has carers at regular intervals during the day and sitting wth him all night. He has a reclining chair to sleep in , is on oxygen, and seems generally quite comfortable -he's at home where he wants to be. He gets very tired but it really cheers him up when we visit. He gets a bit stroppy with the carers and won't let the female ones remove his trousers!!! A good sign that he's feeling okSmile He talks about going shopping when the weather gets better- he won't be able to of course, but we just keep smiling and agreeing with him so as not to get him stessed. He needs to have something to keep him positive.

So all in all I'm feeling happier about the situation.

Much love

Dear Maria,

Oh don't worry about the e/mail address , it is littlepetal@gmail.com should you ever want to e/mail me..

I am so very glad to hear your Mam is recovering well (what a shock though) and your Dad is doing so admirably. I did alot of care work before I married and absolutely adored it.

I am praying for them and for you too. Mark is away hence the reason why I am up so late! (plus my usual insomnia which has only half heartedly improved during Lent! LOL)

Much love,

Amanda

Thanks Amanda.

I'm hoping to see them at the weekend and do a bit of gardening for dad. If the weather's nice w emight be able to get him out to sit in the garden for a little while.

I know what you mean about the insomnia- I don't think I've ever read as many books as I have this last couple of months. Mind you, since I've been on the tramodol I've slept well!

Take care

Sorry to butt in, you two!

Sorry your Mum had a nasty fall, Maria, but glad she's now on the mend. It's such good news that your Dad is comfortable and, as you say, in his own home with his own things around him. When the weather is better, you could maybe hire a chair and take him for some fresh air and a change of scenery. He sounds to have good carers which is another bonus.

You take care, too, Maria - easy for me to say, I know, but try not to get too stressed.

Much love
Jeanxxxx

That will be lovely for him, sitting in the garden and enjoying the sunshine (or at least the slightly warmer weather!)...

I find the more I read at night the longer I stay awake for, unless it is expectionally heavy like 'Difficult moral questions' which is lingering around our bedroom or a 500 page Joseph Conrad book! LOLOL

Love,

Amanda

I must admit, I'm looking forward to getting out into the garden myself. Dad was aways a keen gardener- especiially of fruit and veg. He's just managed to plant some tomato seeds in a pot, bless him. I don't know about their chances of survival, but it gives him something to aim for. Hopefully his carers will be able to water them for him once they get growing.

I'm off work today as my knees are playing up. The sun is shining so I think I'll sit out in the garden for a while. Spring must be on its way as the frogs are back in the pond, doing what frogs always do at this time of year!!!

Take care yourself

Oh my little loves are dying for the frog spawn! Every year they are out there watching and waiting and keeping their nature journals, it is so sweet.

Currently we are housing about 60 snails! They have made amazing snail worlds, and have looked up in books and on the web what snails need to survive and are feeding them and caring for them. They are all named and coded by coloured pens.

Great education which is also autonomous!

How are your knees now? Mine are terrible too, such a bind.

Love,
Amanda

hi Amanda- just picked up on this as i haven't been on forum til today. Knees are a bit better thanks. Didn't go to see dad as i was feelling abit rough saturday and Tony (hubby) decided to clean the pond out on Sunday.
If your little ones are into wildife they would have loved our shed this weekend- we found a nest of little wood mice- mum and at least 4 babies. They were so cute- tiny but with lovely big eyes and ears and the thinnest, cutest tails you could imagine. We decided to take them to the fields near us as we didn't really want them to breed any more! I wish I'd taken some photos.
We've now got frogspawn- hope yours arrives soon

Hi Maria,

I am glad the knees feel a little better and I hope you manage to get to visit your parents soon..

The mice sound sweet, well, to the children! We have a mouse too sadly, it scared the living daylights out of me but when the children were told their reaction was 'oh good at last we have a pet!' Yikes!

Love,

Amanda
